CropSyst and ClimGen have matching major version numbers. The major version number correspond to the CS Suite distribution.

General description of the distributed version.

The major distribution version number roughly corresponds to the technology used to implement the CS programs' user interfaces.
  1. DOS version using simple text files with no user interface
  2. DOS version with user interface added separate parameter files (using Borland's TVision UI library)
  3. Windows version added GIS module (using Borland Turbo C++ with the OWL UI library)
  4. Windows version added UED files and separate parameter editors for different parameter files (using the Borland C++Builder 5 using the VCL UI library)
  5. Windows version added CS Explorer and CANMS (using Borland Developer Studio 2006 and the VCL UI library).
